first read the details below to decide which file or files that you need. Go to the download page and select each file in turn and store them on
your PC in a place where you can find them to use after the download is complete.
- The complete Index for VHF Communications from 1969 to the current issue. There are
four different files that can be downloaded :-
- vhfcindex.zip, this is a zip file
containing the html pages of the index from the web site. When installed on your computer
you will be able to use your Internet browser to page through the index.
- vhfcindex.xls, this is an Excel
spreadsheet containing all of the data from the index. When installed on your computer you
will be able to use the Find facility of Excel to search for useful articles.
- vhfcindex-excel.zip, this is a zip
file containing the Excel spreadsheet, this is a much smaller file to transfer.
- vhfcindex.pdf, this is a pdf file containing
the index in a format that can be used by the Acrobat Reader.
- The firmware and PCB layouts for the article "A Simple TNC for Megabit Packet
Radio Links" by Matjaz Vidmar, published in the 3/2000. There are two files that can
be downloaded :-
- tnc.zip, this is a zip file that contains the
first issue of the firmware plus the PCB layouts.
- nkiss.zip, this is a zip file that contains
the second issue of the firmware to overcome intermittent problems when using the Zilog
Z85C30 processor.
- wkiss.zip, this is a zip file that
contains new software featuring an improved digipeater and an improved frame
handling while in the filter mode. Only frames with all digi bits set are passed through
the filter. On the other hand, the new parameter SSID is only used by the digipeater. The
various versions differ in the programmed clock division modulos to obtain useful
baudrates on the RS-232:
Version W4, xosc 29.4MHz: 230k4 RS-232 clkx16(76k8 radio if used).
Version W4, xosc 14.7MHz: 115k2 RS-232 clkx16 (38k4 radio if used).
Version W41, xosc 29,4MHz: 115k2 RS-232 clkx32 (38k4 radio if used).
Version W42, xosc 22MHz: 115k2 RS-232 clkx16 (19k2 radio if used).
Version W43, xosc 29.4MHz: 115k2 RS-232 clkx16 (38k4 radio if used)
- A Freeware Yagi antenna optimiser, YGO3 from Richard Formato, WW1RF. The files to
download are Ygo3.txt and Ygo3inst.exe. This is the successor to YGO2 used in
the article "Improving VHF Antenna System Performance with High Impedance Yagis"
by Richard Formato published in the 1/1999 issue of VHF Communications.
The optimiser was last updated on 25th April 2001, so if you have a copy downloaded
before that date you should download the updated version. There will be an article
published in issue 3/2001 of VHF Communications which contains more detail about the
software plus some example antennae.
- The PIC HEX code for the 2m Direct Conversion Transceiver by André Jamet, F9HX.
These are transceiver-freq-v1.8.txt,
the code for the frequency counter, and transceiver-aux.txt,
the code for the auxilliary functions.
- The design files for the Transverter
adaptor for use with ICOM IC735/751 by Ulf Kylenfall, SM6GXV, published in
issue 2/2005 of VHF Communications. Download
design.zip
- Spreadsheet for calculating the filter
design shown in the article "Design and assembly of a simple 4 pole ladder
filter" by Wolfgang Schneider, DJ8ES, published in issue 1/2006 of VHF
Communications. Download
